Kobus Muller arrives in Berlin with a clear purpose: to fuse his South African musical roots with contemporary European production. In this first post I’ll explain the new release Shosholoza, upcoming shows and the creative choices that define his sound – plus how to follow and hear the music.

Why Kobus Muller matters now

Kobus Muller’s work sits between tradition and modernity. He draws on Zulu and Ndebele rhythmic patterns, contemporary Afrobeat/Amapiano motifs and concise pop songwriting. The result is music that honours heritage while remaining radio-friendly and stage-ready. Expect tight arrangements, vocal clarity and rhythmic layers that reward repeated listening.

The new release: Shosholoza and standout tracks

The single Shosholoza leads the record with a brisk groove and layered vocal harmonies. Elsewhere, tracks range from intimate ballads to upbeat, danceable numbers. Production choices favour warm instrumentation, natural reverb and a restrained low end so the vocals remain central.

Behind the music – songwriting & mission

Kobus writes with a conscious aim: connect audiences to South African stories without exoticising them. He collaborates with local percussionists and Berlin-based producers to strike a balance – authenticity in performance, modernity in mix.
